Keith Wonderboy Johnson

and

The Spiritual Voices

Just Being Me

Keith Wonderboy Johnson and the Spiritual Voices are back with another outstanding project. There new CD is titled Just Being Me.  This studio project appears to be the result of collaboration between Worldwide Music and Verity Records. In fact the executive producers are listed as Max Siegel and Kerry Douglas.

There a few interesting facts about this CD.  First, seven of the songs were recorded and mixed at Ray-Markable Studios in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The remaining six tracks were recorded and mixed at The First Church of Christ Studios in Columbus, Ohio.  The songs are placed on the CD in a manner that has a song recorded in Rocky Mount followed by a song recorded in Columbus. Secondly, Spanky Williams is conspicuously missing from the credits for this project. Thirdly, Keith does all of the lead except on "He Will See You Through," where Sean Scales joins in sharing lead duties. And, all of the songs appear to be original and not previously recorded by Keith and the guys.

You can always depend on hard hitting gospel quartet music from Keith. And that is what you get with this new project. It seems that each of Keith’s CD takes you to another level. The bar has been definitely raised several notches with this CD. It is difficult to find a weakness in this project. Obviously, if it was recorded live there would be more energy from having an audience participating in the recording. But, for those that are familiar with Keith’s recordings, you know he does not need an audience to have a "Foot Stompin' Service."

There are 13 selections on this CD. And like the project Send A Revival, this release is representative of the
Spiritual Voices unique style to which their fans have become accustomed.  The first track on the CD is “Thank You For What You’ve Done.” From the first beat of this song, you know you are in for vintage Keith. And when he shouts “come on,” look out, because you about to be taken on a journey showcasing the best of gospel quartet music that can only be done by the Spiritual Voices.  If you are not clapping your hands and stomping your feet on this one, you really need to check your pulse.

The remaining 12 selections are a mixture of ballads, mid-tempo and drive songs.  In other words, there is something on this project for everyone. Even if you are not a fan of gospel quartet music, you will find something on this CD for you. Be forewarned, however, that if you are not a fan now, you most likely will be after listening to this CD.  Keith and the guys really delivers what their fans expect of them on this CD.

Like the project
Keith Wonderboy Johnson Presents The Spiritual Voices and Friends, It is difficult to select just one favorite song from the new CD.  On the whole Keith Wonderboy Johnson and The Spiritual Voices' project Just Being Me is representative of great traditional gospel quartet music.  You will not be disappointed in adding this CD to your collection.
