Pastor, musician, singer, songwriter, musical arranger are just some of the titles worn by Pastor Van D. Roberson of Houston, Texas. For those that are gospel quartet fans, you also know Pastor Roberson as a member of the legendary Roberson Brothers. The “Roberson Brothers” reunited in 2007 and delivered one of the best gospel projects in 2008.
In January 2010, Rev. Van D. Roberson was called to pastor Shiloh Baptist Church of Houston, Texas. "Pastor Roberson is known for his unique blend of driving rhythms and remaining deeply rooted in the traditional gospel sounds. While delivering an unadulterated gospel message, he still loves to sing. He is compelled to be a very positive active role model for the community."
His newest project, All the Days of My Life, is nothing but good old fashioned traditional gospel music. To solidify the project as a solid gospel quartet, Pastor Roberson called on the legendary Joe Ligon of The Mighty Clouds Of Joy to share lead duties on the song "Momma Remembered." The song is "a sentimental, hard-shouting gospel ballad in memory of mom and her sacrifices, kindnesses, and teachings." Their message pivots on the comfort that “Momma may be gone, but God has not left you alone,” evokes the tear-jerking passion of June Cheeks’ “Mother Sang These Songs.” What a powerful tribute to the memories of Mothers.
There are 14 songs on the project. And, there is actually something on this project for all lovers of gospel music. Just look at the artists that took part in this project. Others that contribute their vocal talents to this project are Pastor M. O. Cooper, Pastors’ Chorus of Bryan/College Station, First Lady Kimberly Thompson, and Pastor Roberson's daughter, Tiva Yolanda Roberson. The final song on the project is a very special song with the Second Baptist Church Choir Of Santa Ana, California, featuring the church's Pastor, Rev. John Nix-McReynolds; who died shortly after the recording of this song.
