Awesome, powerful, outstanding and great were just
some of the words being voiced by many after the concert/recording by
Lee Williams and The Spiritual QC’s
on Saturday, June 2, 2007. The word that best describe the recording for
us is ANOINTED.
After devotion, the program began with
The Golden Wings Quartet
of Tupelo, Mississippi, ministering to the congregation of about 3,000.
The Golden Wings
is a great group. These guys are positioned to continue to deliver
to the world that “Tupelo” style that has become a signature of
Lee Williams and The Spiritual QC’s.
They do not sound like the QC's,
but they do have a very unique style and sound. If you have not
heard these guys, you owe it to yourself to find their CD or DVD tilted
You've Got To Leave It Here! Live In Concert. The group is
currently on the
Low Rush Music Label.
Linwood, the comedian, was allowed to entertain for
about 40 minutes. He was much of what you would expect. Laughter was
the order of the day. And, Linwood delivered. After Linwood, about
20 persons were allowed to tell us why they love the ministry (and what
the group’s songs mean to them) of Lee
Williams and The Spiritual QC’s. There
were some very moving testimonies. Hopefully, the testimonies will
make it on the DVD.
When James Chambers introduced
Lee Williams and The Spiritual QC’s
the musicians enter the sanctuary from various isles. Therefore, you
had spotlights moving all over the sanctuary. After the musicians
were in position, Lee, Leonard and Patrick moved into
position from behind the curtain that covered the back of what would
become the stage.
The group sang twelve songs. They included two (2)
previously recorded songs, a new arrangement to an old familiar song, and
many new songs. From the beginning of the first note by Al Hollis to
the last beat of the drum. this was an anointed service. The members
of the congregation were on their feet for most of the evening. When
Lee began to sing “So much to be thankful for,” the
Holy Spirit could truly be felt. If anyone present did not feel the
power of the Holy Spirit during this song, they need to check their
relationship with our Lord and Savior. The song was delivered with
such an anointing that Patrick, Leonard, and Al were
shouting and verbally praising God. The musicians left their
instruments and just praised God. Lee stood STILL for at
least 5 minutes (if not longer), not singing, not humming, just standing
STILL. And, for those who were close enough to the group you could
see the tears being shed. If only a tenth (10%) of the power that
was present Saturday night emanates from the CD and DVD, you are sure to
be blessed. In fact, the move of the Holy Spirit was so powerful
until the title of the Live Recording has been changed to “So much
to be thankful for.”
Patrick actually sings lead on four (4)
songs. He shares lead duties with Lee on one song.
Leonard sang lead on two (2) songs. One of the songs that
Leonard sang was “Oh I Want to See Him.” The
arrangement to this song is nothing but superb. It would not be
surprising to find, immediately after August 28, 2007, soloists, groups
and choirs adopting the unique arrangement presented by the group to this
very traditional song. People were shouting It’s a hit, It’s a hit,
It’s a hit, over and over. And, they are right. This song will get
lots of airplay.
The guys ministered for about 75 minutes. No
one would have been disappointed had the concert continued for another 75
minutes.
People came from all over the United States to
attend this Live Recording. They came from as far away as California
and New York. Many came from Texas, South Carolina, Georgia, North
Carolina, Illinois, Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and numerous other
states.
It should be noted that George Dean is one of the
producers of this recording. So, you know this is going to be a
great recording. August 28, 2007, is the release date for the CD and
the DVD. What a blessing it will be to witness this anointed
recording over and over and over.
By the way, we used 'congregation' to describe those
attending the concert because it was not just a concert, but a spiritual
service.
