The live recording of
The Gospel Four
with 4 Life Miracle Records was a night to remember. From beginning to
end, the atmosphere was set for blessings both from God and to God.
Bishop Neal Roberson
hosted this awesome event. Many know him as an anointed singer and
preacher, but he showed his comedic side on this night. He kept the
audience entertained throughout the evening. Bishop Roberson not only kept
us laughing but he started the evening with a soul-healing praise and
worship service. This undoubtedly set the atmosphere for the other musical
presentations to come.
The Evereadys
were the first group to minister in song. They sat in chairs as they sang
their hit song, “How Long.” They started off with a smooth, jazzy feel and
ended with a soulful explosion with both the group and the audience on
their feet. It is obvious that
The Evereadys
still have it.
The Mighty
Travelers were
the second group to minister. These guys were sharply dressed in olive
green and white. It did not take them long to prove that they were sharp
in more ways than one. They started with the song, “Oh, What A Meeting”
and ended with “If I Be Lifted Up.” Having never seen this group live, I
was really impressed with their presentation. They were lively and
anointed. This group will be the next featured release for 4 Life.
Certainly, they have another hit group on their label.
Greg Kelly and
Foundation were
the third group to bless the audience. They started with “Sing A Little
While,” a song that starts acapella and then stirs you up. Midge joined
Greg on this number and they proved to be a awesome duo. The audience
would agree that Greg has a hit song with “Sing A Little While.” Greg
ended his presentation with “Never Grow Old,” which took the praise and
worship to another level. Greg sang this song with conviction and with an
anointing that stirred up the crowd.
Bishop Nathaniel
Bond and the Ensemble
were the last group to minister before the featured group. Bishop Bond and
his ensemble gave a fiery presentation with two songs, “I’ve Got the
Victory” and “Over in Zion.” The Ensemble is a lively group and a perfect
complement to Bishop Bond, who is not only an awesome preacher but a
powerful singer as well.
After four awesome presentations, the audience was ready to receive
The Gospel Four.
James Chambers joined Bishop Roberson in introducing
The Gospel Four.
The group entered the stage dressed in red choir robes, which complemented
their first number, “Come On, Let’s Have Church.” And church we had for
the rest of the night. This was a soul-stirring number that had the
audience out of their seat. Their second song, “One More Blessing That You
Sent My Way,” was a song that thanked God for all the good things He has
done. Their third number, “At Calvary, Jesus Covered It All,” was another
number that made the audience think about the price that Jesus paid for
us. They then presented a riveting number thanking God for all He has
done. Their fifth number was truly a thought provoking song, “I’m Sorry I
Can’t Let You In.” This song reminded us that we cannot live any kind of
way and make it in. We must live a righteous life continuously. Their
sixth number asked the question, “What Can I Give Him?” They answered by
saying, “I’ll Give Him My Heart.” Carl was the lead singer for this song,
and his smooth, soulful voice was perfect for this number. This song
reminded us that our heart is the greatest gift that we can give God. The
group ended the first half of the recording with a soul-stirring number
that is sure to be a hit, “Time Won’t Permit Me To Say How Good God Has
Been.” The Ensemble joined the group for this song. Evelyn Turrentine-Agee
was the special guest singer, and she added that special touch as only she
can. They sang the audience to a high that ended in the intermission.
During the intermission,
Bishop Roberson
entertained the crowd playing his harmonica, proving again that he is a
man of many talents.
The Gospel Four
returned to bless the crowd once again. They began the second half with a
song asking, “What Is This?” This song told how God takes the ordinary,
changes the necessary, and makes the heart feel merry. Their next number
admonished us to help our fellow man. Carl then returned to lead the tenth
song telling us to “Stand Up and Be a Blessing Now.” George then sang what
he called “his song,” “Father, We Still Need You.” The audience could
understand why this was a favorite with George.
The Gospel Four
then sang another drive song, “God Is Expecting Me To Get My Business
Fixed.” This one had the audience going. The next number reminded us that
Jesus is a true friend even when we find out that others are not our
friend. Lastly, the group sang a song telling us, “Don’t Stay Away From
the Church Too Long – You Might Find Yourself Doing Wrong.” Carl joined
George on this number. This song was a perfect end to the night--as the
first song invited us to let’s have a little church and the last song told
us the importance of staying in church.
Overall, this recording was done in a spirit of excellence. I applaud 4
Life Miracle Records for a job well done. It was obvious that much quality
time was invested in making this recording a success. Not only was the
music done in excellence, but the whole atmosphere exuded excellence. The
lighting and stage setup were exceptional and professional.
The Gospel Four
not only sang songs that had the audience moving, but the words were
meaningful and thought-provoking. Those of us who were there were blessed
over and over on that night, but, undoubtedly, this project will bless
gospel music lovers for years to come. |
