The Gospel Incredibles

Dedicated To Jesus

For this month's independent review we took a look at one of quartet gospel's hardest working groups today. That group is none other than Atlanta Georiga's own Gospel Incredibles. For over twenty one years the Incredibles have traveled across the country praising the Lord through song. If you are looking for down home quartet gospel this 2000 release entitled "Dedicated to Jesus" is where you will find it. With Pastor Clark Conner and Pastor Galbert Conner sharing the lead vocals on the majority of the selections the listener is taken on a spiritual journey. There is no flashy sound just straight up singing the word of God through song.

From the start of this CD it is evident that these guys are no joke. Rev. Clark Conner starts out by making it clear they are dedicating everything they have to Jesus Christ. With such as statement as that at the beginning of the recording how can one go wrong. Enlisting the help of his brother Rev. Galbert Conner at the selection's end really makes for a vocal treat. The CD production on a whole is smooth and real. There are no programmed drums on this one, which makes for a welcome sound in today's market of quartet recordings. The songs on the project transition well, with a mixture of traditional based styles. From the title cut with it's usage of the standard "Nobody But You" to the rocking "Bended Knees" the project really never looses steam from the start.

This project is yet another offering with many songs of note. As was aforementioned the title cut is truly a favorite of mine. As Pastor Clark Conner states, many times we dedicate so many things to other people but it's time to dedicate something to Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. "Bended Knees" is a tour de force featuring some real tight bass lines. Bass man Jeff price is truly the featured musician on this to tappin' selection. As the selection gains momentum Pastor Conner drives the group higher and higher accenting each run with Archie Brownlee like screams. Pastor Galbert Conner brings a slightly smoother style to the table with "I Want To Be Loved". This Tommy Ellison standard is really given a special touch with the story of a young boy and an old man whose pleads for love are enough to drive you to tears. If I had one complaint with this project it would have to be the two instrumental selections at the end. Just as you are ready to hear more and more from the Incredibles you get two selections with no vocals. However, for those who like instrumental tracks they are well worth the listen. If you love traditional quartet with a mid-level amount of instrumentation this project is a must have. To obtain this project you may contact Clarence Conner at (404) 412-3317 or e-mail him by clicking here Gospel Incredibles. I give The Gospel Incredibles "Dedicated To Jesus" a 8 out of 10.
