Deacon Williams & The Soul Converters
All The Way
For the month of April we move to the Bronx, New York and present Deacon Williams & The Soul Converters. For over 40 years The Soul Converters have been spreading the gospel all over the country. This, their newest recording is quickly catching the attention of quartet lovers all over the nation. With a great selection of original compositions and powerful lead vocals the Soul Converters are definitely a must have in your quartet collection.
Like many quartets on the road today the Soul Converters have a very tight sound. However, this is not what grabs the listener's attention when listening to this group. Deacon Earl Williams, has been blessed with a very unique powerful voice. The listener can't help but notice that Deacon Williams sounds just like a very young Doc McKienzie of Doc Mckeinzie & The Gospel Hi-Lites. His powerful leads complimented by his brother Deacon James Williams, who amazingly enough sounds just like him. This CD also shows the very smooth production that comes from most projects on the Road To Glory Record Label with Deacon Sumpert Watts at the helm.
The project on a whole is powerful, but there are a few selections that really stand out. The selection that has been gaining The Soul Converts recognition around the country is the hard driving "I Feel A Shout Coming On". This song highlights the very unique combination of the Williams brothers Earl & James at their best. One of my favorite selections is the mid-tempo song entitled "Under Construction". This selection tells how each and every one of us is constantly striving to be a better Christian in the army of the Lord. While listening to this and all other selections there is but one complaint that comes to my mind. There are no selections over 5 minutes long. Many of the selections seem to just be heating up when suddenly the song is fading out. On the positive side you really know that the CD is good when brevity is a complaint. Another selection of note is the powerful "I Can't Win". This song highlights the vocals of James Williams. This cut tells of our reliance on Jesus Christ to overcome each and every obstacle. Though this selection lasts only 4 minutes and 40 seconds on the CD in concert this is a 15-minute powerhouse. As was aforementioned the only problem I have with this CD is it's brevity. If your looking for some powerful singing that contains some great original compositions this is a must have. I give Deacon Williams & The Soul Converters "All The Way" an 8.5 out of 10.
