Greg Logins and In Christ

"Just Stand"

This month we review Greg Logins and In Christ’s “Just Stand.”  The recording took place at the Hartsville Center Theatre, Hartsville, South Carolina.  Although the crowd was “slim,” it did not hinder Greg and the guys from putting their hearts into this project.

There are 13 songs on this video.  “Something On The Inside” appears to be the only track on the video that was previously recorded by the group.  The other songs on this video are “I Made Up My Mind,” “Hold On You’ll See,” “It Was Your Grace,” “Why Can’t We All Get Along (Get Along),” “It Will Be Alright,” “Just Stand,” Thank You For Everything You’ve Done,” “Nobdy But You Lord,” “It Won’t Always Be His Way,” “I’ll Never Let You Fall (Lean On Me),” “Sing On” and “Give Him The Praise.”

As soon as you put this video in your player, you know that you are in for a treat, if for no other reason than the fact that Carl “Benny Hill” Britt (formerly of Doc McKenzie & The Gospel Hi-Lites) is on keyboard.  This would probably have been a good video without Benny, but there should be no doubt that he added a new dimension to the overall project.  The other musicians on this project are Everett Cummings on Lead Guitar, David Logins on Bass Guitar, Reggie Midgette on keyboard, and Greg Logins, Jr. on drums.  Greg Logins, Jr. is an awesome drummer.  He should have a long and very successful career in gospel music.

Greg’s father, Lonnie “Pop” Logins, is featured on Thank You For Everything You’ve Done,” I’ll Never Let You Fall (Lean On Me),” and “Sing On.”  Make no mistake about it, Pop Logins can sing.  One of the best song on the video is “Thank You For Everything You’ve Done.”  Pop Logins really pushes the group to the limit with this song.  The harmony is very tight and the arrangement is outstanding.  Pop Logins also sings background on the other songs on the project.

The location for the recording was a good choice.  The stage was a little crowded.  One of the reasons for the appearance of the stage being crowded was the presence of a keyboard and chair that were never used during the recording.

The quality of the sound is good.  There are some variations in the recording level on some of the songs.  And you will realize that the vocals are sometime not in sync with the singers’ lips movement.  However, neither of these observations are enough to diminish the overall quality of the video.

There are very few variations in the camera angles.  There are many close-ups of the members of the group.  Since the number of persons attending the recording was small, cutaways to the audience did not reflect the audience responses you hear in the video.  The lighting is good throughout the video.  At times shoots of the audience do appear to be fuzzy or blurred.

There are no interviews on this video.  Overall this is a good video.  Greg and the guys give you over 80 minutes of nothing but good gospel quartet music.  Therefore, you will certainly want to have this video in your collection.  We give this video an 8 out of 10. To purchase this video click here
