Debra Snipes & The
Angel's
"Seek Jesus"
Recorded Live In
Albany, GA
Sometime you pick up a CD and just
marvel at the vocal talents of the artist. Well,
Debra Snipes
is one of those singers. She is no stranger to the gospel music industry.
The first time we heard the project titled The Gathering All The Saints,
it was obvious that she was going to be a mainstay in the industry.
She will remind you
Lucille Pope
(of
Lucille Pope and The Pearly Gates).
Others will hear echoes of
Dorothy Love Coates,
Albertina Walker
and
Rosetta Thorpe.
In other words, Ms. Snipes is a well rounded vocalist.
She is on the J. Platinum Record label. With that label she has recorded
at least seven (7) projects, the previously mentioned The Gathering All
The Saints, Standing On The Promises of God, It's A
Blessing To Be Alive, Who's In Charge Jesus, Cover
Me Jesus, So Many Times The Lord Made A Way For Me.
The project that is the subject of this review, "Seek Jesus - Recorded
Live In Albany, GA."
The project beings with "I Found Jesus In Time." This song
was also on the Standing On The Promises of God CD. Another
song from the Standing On The Promise of God CD that is on the
Seek Jesus' project is "Don't Call The Roll.' The
song "So Many Times" was on the The Gathering All The Saints
& So Many Times The Lord Made A Way For Me CD. This is the
longest song on the CD. It is also one of the best on the project.
Other songs on this recording are “You Been Knocking,” “Seek
Jesus,” “Jesus Didn't Leave Me,” “He Didn't Leave
(Praise),” “In The Hands Of The Lord,” “Lord I
Promise,” “Sign My Name,” “Bow Down,” and “Reason
To Serve The Lord.” All of these songs are worthy of your
attention.
An interesting aspect to this
project is the rhythm laid down by the band. The musicians were Robert
Harris (Lead Guitar), Demetrius Ware (Drums), Michael Watts (Bass Guitar), and
Terry Thomas (Rhythm Guitar). The arrangements to each song allow the band
members to showcase their individual talents, without overshadowing the singers.
There are no hard hitting drive songs on this CD. However, in spite of
that absence, there really is something on this project for everyone. The
one element missing from the CD is any participation by the audience. This
is a 'live' recording. But, at times, it appears to be more of another
studio project. We understand that there is a DVD of the recording in the
works. That may provide the audience participation that you would expect
from a live recording.
If you enjoy the new traditional sounds of quartet gospel you will enjoy this
recording.
The new release from
Debra Snipes & The Angel's
is full of good traditional gospel quartet CD.
