The Brown Sisters
have been singing together for over 20 years. Their recent release has launched
them onto the national stage. Therefore, for the month of August, we
review their CD Live In Chicago.
If you were putting together a female gospel group from todays singers, you
would probably call upon
Evelyn Turrentine-Agee,
Ronica Bowers,
Dorothy Norwood,
Debra Snipes,
and
Leomia Boyd.
These ladies are awesome vocalists. Attend their concerts and you know,
they bring a lot of energy to the stage. They sing songs that deliver
messages that are needed in this world today. They also are exceptional
songwriters. What a group that would be. Or, you could just might pick up the CD
Live In Chicago and realize that a group with all of that vocal
talent, finesse, musical background and ability already exist in
The Brown Sisters.
The sisters are Vanessa C. Dukes, Phyllis D. Brown, Lavette Sims, Adrienne Brown
and Andrea M. Brown.
From the first song on their CD to the end, you are left with the undeniable
fact that The Brown
Sisters can sing.
They are musicians, songwriters and great vocalists. And, the Sisters know
how to deliver a song. With this project they deliver songs for a world
that need to hear the Word.
The new CD gives you some contemporary, some Praise and Worship, and some
traditional. Combine together you get a CD that is sure to minister to
you. The songs on this project are Ain't Nothin' Like This,
Ain't Nothin Like This (Reprise), Awesome God, King
of Glory, Abide, Abide (Reprise), He's
Coming Back, Hold On, Sacrifice of Praise,
Sing Unto the Lord, Perfect Will, You
Reign Lord, and You Reign Lord (Testimony).
If we had to mention songs that really stand out, the first would be Awesome
God. The message convey by this song is nothing short of great.
This ballad may very well become the groups signature song. This Praise
and Worship song showcases the ladies ability to deliver a soul stirring
reminder that God is An Awesome God. The second song would be the upbeat
tempo Hold On. This is one of those songs that will
certainly get the audience involved in the concert with some toe tapping and
hand clapping. Listen to the runs and riffs in this song. The ladies
masterfully encourage you to Hold On as you get your praise on.
The third song we will emphasize is You Reign Lord. Listen
to the intensity in the voices of the sisters. The emotions they convey during
this song intensifies as the song reaches its apex. Then, as soon as your about
to come back down, the testimony kicks in. This just happened to be the last
song on the project. What a fitting end to a great recording.
Overall, this new release from
The Brown Sisters is a
very good
recording. We give The Brown Sisters
Live In Chicago a
solid 8.5 out of 10. To purchase this CD click "here." Click on the title to hear a clip
