The Bishop is back with a great CD
titled Untouchable. The title is taken from Isaiah 54:17.
And, by the time you get to the final song on this project you will understand
why they chose that title for this project.
The CD has all of the trappings of a live recording. There seems to be about a
50/50 split on studio and "Live" tracks and the CD definitely contains a
variety of sounds. There are songs that were recorded at the 2009
Blockbuster Showcase in Florence, South Carolina on this project, more about
that later. Another reason for the ‘live’ feeling to the project is that
the group brings a lot of energy to many of the songs. For this project the
group consisted of the Bishop, Prathan “Spanky” Williams, Antrum “Tron”
Sherrills, Anthony “Sophomore” Sherrills, Robbie Baldwin, Terance “Bamps” Key,
Tyrell “Big Tye” Thomas, and Michael “Nitty” Beast.
This project really can be termed vintage DMD in terms of songs selected for
this recording. There
is a good mix of fast, drive, mid-tempo and ballads. And, as with all of
the Bishop’s recent projects Spanky gets to showcase is extraordinary vocal
talents.
Highlights for Spanky on this project include the "That’s What He Did For
Me," "I’ll Be Alright" and “Depending On You.”
The arrangement to “I’ll Be Alright” will remind many of “In
My Dying Hour” by
The Gospel Keynotes.
This song is immediately followed by “God’s Been Good To Me,”
which takes up where “Shackles” left off. This song along
with the selection "Shame On You" are the two new drive
selections that we are confident will be immediately worked into the group's
concert programs.
Another song that deserves your attention is “Remind Me.”
The Bishop has done for this traditional standard what he did for “I
Can’t Even Walk.” In fact, this is one of, if not the best, song
on the project as it relates to the message conveyed by the song and the
delivery by the group.
Other songs on this project are “I’ll Go,” “There’s A
Blessing Here For You,” “I’m So In Love With Jesus,” “God’s
Been Good To Me,” “Love You More,” “Great Meeting,”
“I Need Thee/Bless Me/Prayer of Jabez,” and “Something On
The Inside ’09” "Something On The Inside" was on the
group's 2004 release, Chronicles: Book of Songs, Vol. 1-3 (Disc
2).
There are two skits, and Intro, and an Interlude mixed in between the songs on
the project. We must admit that they caused us to pause when we initially
listened to the CD. They do not add to the powerful message in many of
the songs. They do, however, tend to distract the listener from the overall
powerful messages that is being conveyed by many of the songs on this project.
As we stated above, some of the songs were recorded at the 2009 Blockbuster
Showdown. And, along with the CD, there is a bonus DVD that contains the
video recorded at the Blockbuster. The songs on the DVD are “Be
Ready,” “That’s What He Did For Me,“ “Long As I Got
Jesus (That’s Alright),” “I Can’t Even Walk (Without You Holding
My Hand),” and “Shackles.” The DVD is 17 minutes and 21
seconds of pure energy. Just to acquire the DVD is worth the purchase of this
project.
On the whole
Darrell McFadden & The Disciples'
Untouchable (Isaiah - 54:17) is certainly worthy of your
attention. The project should be available everywhere. The project
can be purchase by clicking
DMD. We give
Darrell McFadden & The Disciples'
Untouchable (Isaiah - 54:17) an

Been Good To Me.”
