A review of
The Racy Brothers’
Live From Dumas, Arkansas is a great way to start the new year.
This is another CD by
The Racy Brothers that
deserves to be played on every gospel radio station. Not just one or two
of the songs, but the ENTIRE CD deserves to be played.
Bethlehem Worship Center, Dumas, Arkansas was the setting for this recording.
The producers were Walter Witherspoon and Dwight Gordon. Now, just the
naming of these two producers put you on notice that you are in for a great
recording. You will find great lead vocals and very tight background
harmony throughout this recording. More importantly, each song delivers a
spiritual message that you can use in your daily lives.
The project opens with Lee
Williams (of
Lee Williams & The Spiritual QC’s)
joining the brothers on "Touch Me." This song has been recorded
previously by Lee,
The Racy Brothers
and many others. In spite of the previous recordings, Lee and the brothers
were still able to make the recording refreshing.
"Count It As a Blessings" is another song that has been previously
recorded by The Racy
Brothers. This one
of those songs that you know the group will sing at a concert. So, it is
not a surprise to see it on any Live Recording by the group. By the way,
most of the sounds on Live In Dumas have been previously recorded
by the brothers.
"Hard Times" begins with an intro that leads into an awesome
ballad. This song is testament to the fact that gospel quartet music never grows
old. What we mean by that is, this song is just as relevant today as it was when
the brothers recorded it in the 90s. Everyone will be able to relate to this so,
either as a testimony to what is going on in their life or that of someone they
know personally.
The project picks up with "It’s Just A Shadow." The song is
based upon the 23rd Psalm. What a powerful message being delivered by this
song. And, the placement of this song right after "Hard Times" is
perfect. After all, while going through "Hard Times," it is great
to know that "It’s Just A Shadow."
"Time Out" is a wonderful altar call song in the middle of the
recording. This ballad may not get a lot of radio airplay, but it is one
of the best songs on this project. This one will really minister to the
listener. If you do not know our Lord and Savior, take a little "Time Out"
and let The Racy Brothers
introduce you to Him.
"Racy Brothers Medley" is next. The songs making up the medley are
"Lonely Journey," "Won Have To Cry," "Walk
Through The Street," "Sweet Home," and "Be Ready."
Obviously, the brothers like old songs. And, putting them in a medley is a
great way to incorporate them into a concert. You may remember they did a
medley on There’s Not A Friend: Live In Little Rock.
A testimony about the tornado that came through Dumas, Arkansas on February 24,
2007, forms the basis for the song "Many Storms." The song
is actually a praise and worship song of THANKS. Make sure you have you
handkerchief available when you listen to this one. You just might find
yourself rejoicing ‘all by yourself.’
The project really picks up with "Bloodline." This is
followed by "In The Room." And, the project closes with "Dear
Lord, I’m Coming Home."
MCG Records is developing a solid
reputation for delivering exciting gospel quartet live recordings. And, this one
by The Racy Brothers
is no exception. It is sure to be in high demand.
On the whole this new release from
The Racy Brothers is an great live
recording. We give The Racy Brothers’
Live From Dumas, Arkansas a
solid 8.5 out of 10. To purchase this project click "here." Click on the title to hear “It's Just A Shadow.”
