. The
project is titled Bring It To The Altar. This is the group’s first project on a
major label. The label in this instance is 4 Winds Records.
The group is based out of Raleigh, North Carolina. The group was formed in 1999.
They have sharpened their vocals talents by performing with some of the best
artists in gospel music. Thus, they were ready, when 4 Winds came calling, to
move to a major label.
The project has garnered the group three 2011 Stellar Awards’ nominations. They
are in the categories of Traditional Group/Duo of the Year, Quartet of
the Year and for lead singer Fredericka Faison, Traditional Female
Vocalist of the Year. Listen to the CD and you will understand why these
young ladies have gained so much notoriety in such a short period of time.
There are eleven (11) songs on the project. They are “Get Ready, Get
Right,” “What a Friend We Have In Jesus,” “I've Got
To Move,” “Praise Your Name,” “Be Careful,”
“Keep The Faith,” “If Anybody's Able,” “Born
Again,” “Jesus You're All I Need,” “Hold On,”
and “Bring It To The Altar.” According to the liner notes, most of
the songs were written by the lead singer, Fredericka Faison. She is credited
with the arrangements for the song “What A Friend We Have In Jesus.”
And, it should be noted that "I’ve Got To Move" was written by the
late Margaret Allison.
No matter what’s your taste in gospel music, there is a song on this CD for you.
For the diehard
traditionalist there is “What A Friend We Have In Jesus.”
The ballad is always a sure thing in gospel music. It is particularly
uplifting when the artist adds lyrics and an outstanding arrangement.
Looking for a drive song? Check out “Jesus You’re All I Need.”
Yes, the song will certainly get you clapping your hands and tapping your feet,
but listen closely and you will receive a powerful message about what is truly
important in this life.
Looking for a quartet gospel song for your choir? Listen to “I’ve
Got To Move.” The song is a variation to the song "This Old
Building Keep On Leaning." This would be a perfect song (with the same
arrangement) for a choir. Listen closely and you could almost envision your
favorite mass choir singing this song.
Looking for a contemporary song? "Praise Your Name" will
satisfy your taste. The ballad delivers heart wrenching words of thanks. You can
feel the sincerity in Ms. Faison’s voice as she minister with this song.
Looking for that ‘new gospel quartet song’ from a new group? “Get Ready,
Get Right” is the one.
Looking for the song to incorporate into your altar call? You guest it! "Bring
It To The Altar" will more than suffice.
Maybe you are just looking for songs on a new project that minister to you –
then listen to the entire CD.
Overall, this is an
outstanding CD by one of the new gospel quartet artists of 2010. Fans of
good gospel music you will be drawn to this CD.
