This month we take a look at the new
CD by
The Golden Trumpets.
This group has been around for over sixty years. Sixty years of praising God
through songs. And, now they have a new independently released project titled
Jesus Is Coming.
The group is from North Carolina. The current members are Rev. Earl
Staley, Terry Jackson, Carl Staley, William Ferguson, Jason Staley, John H
Staley, Eric Staley, Johnny Lee Briscoe, Alan McEntyre, and Tony Staley.
We first met this group at an Anniversary Program of The National Juniors of
Columbia, South Carolina, several years ago. Since that time, we have often
wondered why this group is not on a major label. After you listen to their new
release, we think you will agree that they the guys are ready for prime time.
They have recorded a CD that will minister to the masses.
There are only eight (8) songs on this CD. And, we stress the word 'only.'
The talent and ministry the group brings to this CD are such that after the last
song the listener is left wanting more.
This group is
blessed with three (3) lead singers, Rev. Earl Staley, Terry Jackson, and
Carl Staley. They each showcase their vocal talents on this project.
The project begins with "God’s Got A Blessing." The
ballad represents an interesting twist on the often repeated phrase
Name It and Claim It. The guys deliver this song in almost a
sermonette style. This is followed by the mid-tempo "Change In My Life."
The song provides the opportunity for the guys to show they can handle runs
with precise coordinated interaction between the lead signer and the
background vocals.
"He Loves You" is another ballad that is tightly done.
It is nothing short of musical perfection. This song confirms for us that
The Golden Trumpets
bread and butter are slow ballads. Another song indicative of this
fact is "Lord I Want You To Love Me." It also is delivered in
a sermonette style.
Other songs on this project In "My Father’s House," "Jesus
Is Coming," "Praise The Lord I’m Free," and "Pray
And Believe." "In My Father’s House" is probably
the one that will get the attention of most Radio Angels. However, all of
theses songs deserve your attention. In listening to these songs it
became evident that the reason they are so good is the spirit and realness
of the lead singers. You really feel that the guys put their “all and
all” into each song.
This project was produced by Kevin Clouds. So, there are no canned chords,
no artificial horns, no electronic sticks. You get to hear these guys on the CD
just as they would sound at a concert.
This release from
The Golden Trumpets
is an good gospel quartet project. This CD is certainly worthy of your
attention. We suggest you contact the group and acquire Jesus Is
Coming and their earlier recordings.
We give
The Golden Trumpets'
Jesus Is Coming
an 8 out of 10. Click on the title to

My Father's House."
