Gloryland Gospel interview with The Evereadys | ||||
GG: With your earlier recordings like “Learning to Lean” and “Separation Line” still getting airplay, the Evereadys have never been far from the thoughts of gospel quartet fans. When did the group decide to get back together and why now?
The Evereadys: Actually, we never stop singing. We just took somewhat of a break from the industry for family, individual projects, spiritual growth and development. (Why Now?) Well because God has provided a way for us to do ministry with a record company that also wants to minister to people. And, we also know that God's timing is the best timing. Everything just fell into place. We sincerely believe that the time is now for God to use us to minister to the nation and the world.
GG: When it comes to gospel music, The Evereadys is a well know group that was sorely missed from the concert circuit. Do you intend to tour the country (and abroad) in conjunction with your new release?
The Evereadys: Yes, without a doubt.
GG: Your fans have been waiting for a very longtime for a new project from your group. What is it that you want you old fans (and new fans) to obtain from this new project?
The Evereadys: The message then and now is always “Jesus.” It is our prayer that each song will provide an answer to someone that maybe going through trials and tribulations, or just wanting to hear the Word in song.
GG: You have toured with many of the great groups in gospel music. What group or individual would you say have influenced your music?
The Evereadys: Wow, there are so many. Some that hold a special place with us are The Violinaires, The Gospel Aires, The Gospel Classics, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, Reverend James Cleveland, The Caravans, The Swan Silvertones, Bill and Essie Moss, The Pilgrim Jubilees, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Rance Allen, and the list could go on and on. Suffice it to say that we have been definitely influenced by just about everybody from the “old school.”
GG: By the way, how was the experience of being a member of one of the greatest group in the gospel music – The Fantastic Violinaires? And what did you learn from that experience?
The Evereadys: Two of us (Jerome Williams and Freddie Williams) were members of the Violinaires. It was a great learning experience. We got to travel around the country. We appeared on programs with many of the giants in gospel music. And, Robert Blair was a great teacher and mentor.
GG: Delivering the Good News with music is an awesome responsibly. What is it that you want people to take away from your ministering on stage? What is the message your want to impart to the audience?
The Evereadys: We hope that they don't see us as just another Gospel Quartet group, but that they see us as ministers of the Gospel with a message that Jesus Saves, and He is the answer to all your problems.
GG: How has the Evereadys’ ministry changed from the last recording in 1992 to this 2005 recording?
The Evereadys: There is more anointing. The songs we write now are with greater testimony from life experience.
GG: Having been away from the gospel music industry, as a group, for over ten (10) years, you have had the opportunity to view the industry from, let’s say, the outside. What is your opinion as to the current direction of the gospel music industry, and in particular the gospel quartet genre?
The Evereadys: We feel that Gospel Music is getting more exposure to the World. The bridge between quartets and choirs, Traditional and Contemporary Artists has been tremendously shortened. God's plan is working out!
GG: Can your fans expect you to perform some of the songs from the albums A Message for You, Just Think of His Goodness, Revived, and of course Learning to Lean?
The Evereadys: First we want to thank our fans for their continued support. Yes, well perform many of our older recordings. We enjoy the old music just as much as our fans.
GG: Of all the songs that the group has recorded, and performed, which one is your favorite? And which one would you like to record again as part of a new project?
The Evereadys: Without a doubt it is “Learning to Lean.” This is our signature song and it is just as relevant today as it was the day we recorded the song. Like the Evereadys, it has stood the test of time. |
