We encourage gospel quartet groups
(and singers) to announce from the stage that they want their fans to call their
local radio station and request their music. This has to be done
regularly. Once, is not enough. Every time you stand before an audience, ask
them to call their local radio station and request to hear your song on the
radio. And, tell those present what song to request. If this is done, it just
might get radio stations to start playing more gospel quartet music. It is
worth the effort.
*****
August 1, 2012
Call your local radio station.
Fewer radio stations are playing any significant amount of gospel quartet
music. Even stations that play nothing but gospel music seem to focus on genres
other than gospel quartet. To encourage stations to play more gospel quartet
music, we would like for the fans of this music to call their local station and
request your favorite gospel quartet singer and the song you would like to
hear. Then get your friends, family members and other fans of this music to do
the same. It would be important for as many people as possible to call and
request the same song.

IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
R&B’S NEWEST SINGING
SENSATION GRETA PRINCE
TO PERFORM AT 2012 ESSENCE
MUSIC FESTIVAL
ESSENCE ANNOUNCES
PROMOTIONAL PARTNERSHIP WITH THE MALACO MUSIC GROUP IN RECORDING DEAL WITH R&B
STAR 2011 WINNER
NEWEST SINGLE “YOU SHOULD
KNOW” AVAILABLE NOW ONLINE!
(June 5, 2012- New York, NY)—
After being crowned the winner of ESSENCE
+ Pebbles R&B Star
competition, singer Greta Prince
returns to the stage a year later where her life changing journey began
and will make her Superlounge debut at this year’s ESSENCE Music Festival 2012
July 5-8 in New Orleans. In addition, ESSENCE announced today a promotional
partnership with The Malaco Music Group who has signed an exclusive recording
deal with the R&B star winner that encompasses her debut single as well as
future works during the terms of the agreement under the Malaco
Records label. Her first single, “You Should Know,” is available now online
and will hit airwaves on radio and internet stations in the coming days.
Today’s announcement marks the
conclusion of an extraordinary past year for the Charlotte, NC native former
accounts receivable specialist now living in Atlanta, GA. After beating out
hundreds of aspiring hopefuls in ESSENCE’s and platinum recording artist
Perri “Pebbles” Reid’s search for America’s next R&B singing sensation,
Greta impressed the panel of celebrity judges, music industry professionals
and ultimately the fans who voted for Greta as the winner at the 2011 ESSENCE
Music Festival. Greta received the grand prize of a one-year artist management
contract with music industry veteran and president of KWL Enterprises
Kevin Liles, who’s launched the careers of best-selling acts TLC and
Trey Songz, and capped her victory by opening for Mary J. Blige in front of
50,000 people at last year's Festival.
Comprising recording studios, record labels,
music publishing companies, direct marketing operations, and distribution
services, the Malaco Music Group takes original music from concept to
consumer. Malaco has been making and marketing definitive Soul, Blues and
Gospel music since 1968. Notwithstanding, Malaco's move into mainstream Urban
music, Malaco’s expanded repertoire also includes Jazz, Christian, as well as
Children's music. Malaco is home to many recording artists and songwriters
with a catalog of thousands of original recordings and musical copyrights.

Fans of traditional gospel quartet music actually celebrate Black History every
time they play their favorite recording from the past.
During this month, take the
opportunity to share the rich history of gospel quartet music with someone,
particularly young people. Tell them about the trailblazers. Tell them how
Ira Tucker,
James "Big Red" Anderson,
Harvey Watkins, Sr.,
Rev. Claude Jeter,
Louis Johnson,
Albertina Walker,
Frank Williams,
Madame Edna Gallmon Cooke,
Willie Banks,
Clara Ward,
Johnny Martion,
and many others, that paved the way for the gospel (no matter what the format)
artists of today. Don’t miss the opportunity to talk about the History of this
genre. And, for the groups and singers that will be performing (ministering)
this month, why not incorporate a song or two from the pioneers of Gospel
Quartet Music into your performance (service). What a great way to help
keep the music alive and to share the history of this genre.

Two Thousand Twelve is here. We
thank God for allowing us to see this New Year. And, it is our continued prayer
that it is a blessed year for all.
Two Thousand Eleven was another year of 'ups and downs' in this genre.
There were many concerts featuring gospel quartet singers during 2011. If you
viewed the calendar of some of the major artists of the genre during 2011, you
noticed that they were singing somewhere almost every weekend. And, there were
countless anniversaries, banquets, and gathering featuring local and regional
gospel quartet singers; just take a look at the Program and Events' category of
the
QC Message Board.
Many gospel quartet groups released new CDs, and in some instances DVDs, last
year. Just take a look at Gloryland Gospel's Top 20 Chart. Major labels, small
labels and independents ensured that there was a continuous supply of new gospel
quartet music throughout the year.
Overall, 2011 was a good year for gospel quartet music. And, we look for greater
and better things to come from this genre during 2012.
