This month we review the new
DVD by Lee Williams
& The Spiritual QCs
titled Fall On Me. The production of this DVD was on
the fast track. The actual concert occurred on May 2, 2009. In
less than 90 days the DVD and CD were released.
Like all of this groups videos, it was recorded at The Temple of
Deliverance, Memphis, Tennessee. The sanctuary was full. People came for
all over the country for this one.
The backdrop of the Temple of
Deliverance, once again, makes for the perfect setting for this recording.
It is obvious that Lee and the guys feel very much at home at Temple of
Deliverance. The stage setting allows you to focus on the singers
and not be distracted by any unnecessary activity on or around the stage.
The camera shots allow you to get close up and personal with the guys and
some of the attendees. The audience is a significant part of the
recording. And, their rejoicing and shouting are captured on this
video.
As with the So Much To Be Thankful For project, there are 11
songs on the video.
The video contains the same songs (not in the same order) that are on the
CD. The DVD appears to capture the concert just as performed.
So, you really do feel that you are at the concert, from beginning to end,
while watching the video. On the video the songs are - "Fall
On Me, Think Of His Goodness, Grateful,
My Whole Life Has Changed, Thats What He Said,
Steal My Joy, Another Chance, Stop
By, It Be's That Way Sometime, So Good To
Me, and Welcome Home." Lee relinquishes more
of the lead duties on this project to Patrick Hollis and Leonard Shumpert.
Leonard sings lead on Grateful and It Bes That Way
Sometime. Patrick handles lead duties on My Whole
Life Has Changed, Another Chance, and Stop
By. He actually shares lead with Lee on Thats What
He Said.
Once again, the guys really minister to you with this project. The
guys did not disappoint the congregation. They were awesome on very
song. As you look at the video you can feel, and see, how the
members of the group are touched by the various songs. You certainly get
to experience the congregation interaction with the group, particularly on
So Good To Me.
MCG has developed the right
formula for recording a live DVD by a gospel quartet group. The
audience is not on top of the singers. The facilities are the best.
The overall setting is superb. The lighting is perfect. The quality of the sound is outstanding. There are
no highs or lows in the sound quality. The recording level is consistent
throughout the video.
The project is vintage traditional gospel quartet. If you are
looking for a good video that captures great gospel quartet singing, then
you will want to add this video to your collection.
We Lee Williams
and The Spiritual QC's Fall On Me
a 9 out of 10.
