Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is the hometown of one of the most exciting
gospel group in the music industry. They are, none other than
The Lighthouse Singers.
This month we review their new DVD titled
Trusting In Jesus ...Live.
For those that might not be familiar with the group, it all began in 1981 when
The Lighthouse Gospel Singers
formed a young group with their sons (ranging from ages seven to
twelve). The young men were collectively referred to as
The
Lighthouse Juniors.
As they matured, they began
writing and arranging their own music. In 1988 they produced their first
album entitled I've Been Down So Long. By 1995, their success in their hometown was so
great they knew it was time for a national release. Thus, A
New Direction was recorded in Jackson, Mississippi and released on
The Melendo Record Label.
The Lighthouse Singers
released their new project on their label - Innovative Records.
Because of God's blessings,
along with the maturity these young men have demonstrated throughout their
musical and spiritual growth, the group was due for a name change.
Therefore,
The Lighthouse Juniors became
The Lighthouse Singers.
The members of the group are Levie Wright, Jr., Jerry
Dunbar, Dwayne Williams, Kelvin Green, Demetris Dunbar, Marcus Jack, Jesse
Jack, Ricky Jarvis and Cecil Green. Also appearing on this project
are Living Faith Christian Center Choir and Castro Coleman.
The new DVD was recorded at
the Living Faith Christian Center, Baton Rouge, LA, where Bishop Raymond
W. Jackson is the pastor.
The DVD will have you praising God, shedding tears, jumping for joy,
stumping your feet, and clapping your hands. This project has something
for everyone.
This new DVD is bound to make
The Lighthouse Singers
a group in great demand for concerts.
The first thing you will notice when you put this DVD into the player is the
energy that the group brings to the project. Secondly, you will
notice that the group has stayed true to their roots – Traditional Gospel
Quartet Music. And probably most importantly, you
will realize that this project really ministers to you.
There are 10 songs on this project. They are "Any Day,"
"There Is Help," "One More Day," "You
Are A Winner," "Trusting In Jesus," "You Need
To Know," "The Quartet Legend's Medleys (How Much Do I Owe,
Stood On The Bank, Stood On The Bank, Three Pictures, Will The Circle Be
Unbroken)," "Nobody Knows," "Peace Of Mind,"
and "Great Reunion."
The performance of
all of the songs is powerful.
The production on this project is superb.
The quality of the
sound is superb. No highs and no lows. The recording level is consistent
throughout the video. The lighting is also consistent throughout the
video.
There are many close-ups of the members of the group. You can actually see
the joy on their faces as they sing, and sing, and sing. There are also
great shots of the audience. This is another ‘jewel’ of the video. The
audience is an integral part of the recording. And, you are never left in
the dark wonder if members of the congregation were enjoying themselves.
The stage (Pulpit Area) is huge. Therefore, the guys had plenty of room to
minister. This also allowed the musician to be in the background to the
point that their presence does not detract from the singers.
However, being able to see the musicians and the singers interact also
adds another dimension to the project.
Overall this is an outstanding video. We
recommend that you add this video in your collection.
We give
The Lighthouse Singers'
DVD Trusting
In Jesus ...Live a
